What is the one trait that separates an adult from a child? Children are simple creatures. They think less; analyze less. Act more and laugh more. They reach out towards others and don’t really hesitate even from smiling at strangers. They are basically pint sized super heroes, who fill our days and lives with joy and smiles. We can actually learn a lot from them. How they are so carefree and stress free.
How they make up almost instantly after fights with fellow peers. When was the last time you witnessed a child holding a grudge against anyone? They simplify things and bring problems to their own little level. They don’t even care about “problems” as Mommy and Daddy are there to take care of everything. There is so much contentment in a child’s life. Rich or poor; every child knows exactly how to have a fulfilling time.
Just what happens when that child grows up? Into adolescence and then adulthood. Why does that person become so mentally frustrated? Harassed and feeling like a loser. I’ll tell you why. He compares his life to others. He starts holding grudges for the smallest things. He picks up fights with friends and family. Everything is for self gain; boosting self worth. Adults are really weird creatures.
They deliberately don’t help others, for the fear of being left behind. What about my ego then? Relationships start to tumble in this downward spiral. Life is made out to be one big rat race; where there is only one winner. And that winner HAS to be me. Or else everything is going to fall apart. What comes of this listless existence is a mystery. When there is no inner peace, what is the point of everything and every effort?
Let us learn from our children. The mysteriously and blissfully happy and content oompa loompas at home. Who laugh at the silliest things. Who fight for one moment and are playing together in the next. Children are not capable of seeing good or bad. They only see a simple reflection of people and things — AS THEY ARE. Sometimes this is the best thing to do.
