Why your husband should be your best friend

This one’s for you Prateek. :)

You took a vow, and so did he
To stand by each other
Through thick and thin
For better or for worse

He loves to listen to you
You love to talk to him
The silliest and the deepest stuff
Fears, insecurities, joys and thrills

The confessions, the laughter
The sheer elation that comes with
Simple conversation
Oh how he just GETS you, and you get him

The days pass to months
Rolling into years
As you grow old and wrinkled
And watch by your side

There he is, gently holding your hand
Beaming with a crinkling smile
His glasses tinker on the bridge of his nose
Hair greying as time goes by

You feel grateful
And content, looking back
At all the years gone by
How the kids grew up so fast

Only one thing remained constant
And that is his constant love and support
The ever-warm gaze in his eye
Like the cherry on top of chocolate pie

He is the best friend, companion and love
You could ever ask for
‘Until next time, and in our next life, stay mine!’, you whisper
A little tear crinkling from your eye
